Nova Scotia Invests in Clean Fuels Innovation to Power a Greener Future

Nova Scotia is making significant strides toward a sustainable future with its recent investment of $3 million in clean fuels innovation through the Clean Fuels Fund. This funding supports seven groundbreaking projects across the province, focusing on green hydrogen production and biomass utilization, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and stimulate economic growth.

Key Projects Include:

Innergex's Osprey H2 Hub: Receiving $793,000, Innergex is developing a hydrogen production hub in Halifax Regional Municipality to supply domestic customers, marking a significant step in local clean energy production.

Waterford Energy Services Inc.: Also awarded $793,000, this project focuses on creating a mobile green hydrogen production facility, enhancing the flexibility and reach of clean fuel technology across various locations.

Municipality of the County of Richmond: With $221,250 in funding, the municipality aims to develop a clean fuels strategy for the Strait of Canso, leveraging the region's potential for green hydrogen to decarbonize local heavy industry.

These initiatives are part of Nova Scotia's broader climate strategy, "Our Climate, Our Future," which outlines comprehensive plans to transition to clean energy, improve energy efficiency, and build resilience against climate change impacts.
